Tammy Beaumont has decided to extend her cricketing journey with The Blaze for an additional two years following her retirement from international cricket earlier this year.
The 35-year-old opening batswoman, with a career originating at Kent back in 2007, has committed to The Blaze until the end of the 2028 domestic season. Beaumont concluded her impressive international run after England’s first-ever Women’s Test at Lord’s against India in July, having amassed 7,327 runs across Test, ODI, and T20 formats.
Her cricketing accomplishments are aplenty. Beaumont was a cornerstone of England’s 2017 World Cup win and has been a pivotal figure in East Midlands cricket since joining Lightning in 2020, which later rebranded as The Blaze in 2023. Next season, it may undergo another rebrand under Nottinghamshire’s banner. Over her tenure with the team, Beaumont has accumulated over 2,600 runs across 78 matches. This year, her contribution was crucial in The Blaze’s sweeping domestic treble, recording over 900 runs in 35 matches across the County Cup, T20 Blast, and the One Day Cup competitions. Beaumont’s batting prowess shone brightly in finals as she knocked up 74 runs in the One Day Cup final and remained unbeaten with 54 in the T20 Blast decider.
“I’m so excited to be here for another couple of years as we hopefully try to defend some of our trophies we won this year,” Beaumont expressed her enthusiasm. “It’s been an amazing four years here, with so many special memories at Trent Bridge, and particularly this year, winning the treble.”
Tammy’s connection to Trent Bridge deepens her passion for continuing her stay. “Trent Bridge is a really special place for me, and I have so many memories with my team-mates, our staff, and the fans, over many years. I really can’t wait to keep playing at Trent Bridge and stay part of the family for a while longer yet,” she shared.
Hailing from Dover, Beaumont spent 12 years playing for Kent and enhanced her skills with Surrey Stars and Southern Vipers in the Kia Super League. Her accomplishments extend to franchise cricket as well, featuring in The Hundred where she made an outstanding 118 off 61 balls – the highest score in both men’s and women’s tournament history – for Welsh Fire in 2023. Her talent has also taken her to the Women’s Big Bash League in Australia, representing three different teams.
The Blaze’s head coach, Craig Cumming, welcomed the news warmly: “We’re absolutely delighted that Tammy has agreed to extend her contract for another two years. It’s great news for us as a team because we can continue to call upon one of the highest-quality players of this generation, who continues to be an incredibly important part of our squad. She’s shown the world over many years exactly what she can do, and now she’s stepped away from internationals, we’re very excited to have her as a full-time member of our group.”
