Sutherland and Schutt Climb Up ODI Bowler Rankings

Megan Schutt and Annabel Sutherland have moved further up the ICC ODI bowler rankings after Australia’s impressive performances in their home series against Bangladesh. Sutherland now sits in fourth, with Schutt closely following in fifth position. The rankings remain topped by their teammate, Alana King, the leg-spinner.

Schutt made a notable start to the Australian summer by claiming a wicket with her very first delivery in the initial ODI against Bangladesh. Her figures of 2 for 19 were followed by a 4 for 36 haul in the second match, helping Australia secure a 2-0 series lead.

Meanwhile, Sutherland, having consistently troubled the Bangladeshi batters in the first match with 4 for 30, contributed an unbeaten 25 with the bat to guide Australia to victory. Although she didn’t take any wickets in Brisbane during the second ODI, her all-round skills were showcased.

Additionally, Sutherland has advanced three positions to reach 17th among ODI batters. Ellyse Perry, thanks to consecutive unbeaten innings, returned to the top ten as she climbed from 12th to 10th. Georgia Voll’s century also propelled her into 28th position.

In another series, the West Indies women completed a clean sweep of their T20I series against Zimbabwe. Former captain Stafanie Taylor made significant contributions, earning her 74 runs, including an undefeated 64 from 39 balls, and claiming three wickets. This performance saw her ranked 40th among batters and 39th as an all-rounder. Notably, Taylor has achieved a remarkable milestone, becoming only the fourth woman to score 3000 runs and take 100 wickets in T20Is.

This week’s action showcases both the talents and hard work of players across teams, reflecting the growing competition and excitement in women’s cricket.
