Sri Lanka Bowl First in Final T20I Against Pakistan

Sri Lanka chose to field first after winning their third consecutive toss on their tour against Pakistan in the final T20I. Despite Pakistan having already secured a series victory with wins in the initial two matches, Sri Lanka seek a consolation triumph at the close of the three-match series.

The visiting team has faced a challenging year, having won only six out of 23 T20I matches since January, without claiming a series victory since September 2025. Reflecting on their performance, captain Kusal Mendis noted the need for improvements in all facets of their game to close the gap with their opponents. His counterpart, Sahibzada Farhan, meanwhile, expressed relief at the luxury of testing his middle-order batting, given the circumstances.

Pakistan have shuffled their lineup to assess their squad depth. Razaullah, Arafat Minhas, Sufyan Moqim, and Abdul Samad have been introduced into the side, replacing Naseem Shah, Abrar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, and Saim Ayub. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, adjusted their line-up by bringing in leg-spinner Vijayakanth Viyaskanth for Maheesh Theekshana.

The pitch conditions remain favourable for batsmen, suggesting that Sri Lanka could aim for a target around 200 runs.

Pakistan’s line-up: Fakhar Zaman, Sahibzada Farhan (captain), Maaz Sadaqat, Hasan Nawaz, Abdul Samad, Khawaja Nafay (wicketkeeper), Arafat Minhas, Mohammad Imran, Razaullah, Salman Mirza, Sufyan Moqim.

Sri Lanka’s line-up: Lahiru Udara, Sineth Jayawardena, Kusal Mendis (captain, wicketkeeper), Kamindu Mendis, Sahan Arachige, Dasun Shanaka, Chamindu Wickramasinghe, Vijaykanth Viyaskanth, Eshan Malinga, Binura Fernando, Nuwan Thushara.
