Suryansh Shedge, a 23-year-old medium pace all-rounder, has been called up to step into the shoes of Hardik Pandya in India’s A team for their forthcoming one-day series against Australia A in Puducherry. Hardik had initially been selected for the squad, contingent upon his fitness, but a recurring injury has made his comeback uncertain. It appears Hardik has been struggling with pain while bowling, prolonging his absence that began in May during the 2026 IPL season. He last played a one-day format match back in March 2025, during the Champions Trophy final.
Shedge has three T20Is under his belt and has appeared in 15 List A matches, with nearly half of them for India A. He notably scored a career-high 72 off 66 balls from the No. 7 position in a dramatic Super-Over finish against Sri Lanka A in June.
Additionally, Anukul Roy, known for his left-arm spin-bowling all-round skills, will replace Naman Dhir. Dhir, in turn, has been selected for India’s T20I squad against West Indies, taking Washington Sundar’s place. If selected, Sundar might represent Tamil Nadu in their Ranji Trophy opener against Rajasthan.
Leading India A will be Ruturaj Gaikwad, with Devdutt Padikkal as his vice-captain. Padikkal recently led India A in the previous red-ball series.
On the Australian side, Riley Meredith and Will Sutherland have been added to their one-day squad, filling in for Jack Edwards and Aaron Hardie. Edwards departed to join the senior team in South Africa, where he made his ODI debut, while Hardie is sidelined with a mild knee issue.
The series commences with a day-night encounter on 6th October at 2pm local time, followed by day matches on the 9th and 11th of October at 9am.
