Razaullah and Crocombe Make ODI Debuts as Pakistan Elects to Field Against England

Pakistan has chosen to bowl first against England in Lahore, with skies clear and conditions ideal for cricket. Their captain, Shaheen Afridi, decided to field on a surface known for favouring batsmen, in a match where a win could secure their place in the final.

Pakistan’s lineup has seen two adjustments. Shadab Khan returns, offering an additional spin option tailored to the spin-friendly surface of the Gaddafi Stadium. Meanwhile, Razaullah is set to make his One Day International debut, filling in for Faheem Ashraf and Naseem Shah, the latter having injured his finger shortly before the match.

England, still processing their inability to defend a towering 429 against Sri Lanka earlier in Rawalpindi, are tasked with setting the target today. Despite considerable discussion around Adil Rashid not playing, the oversight remains unchanged. Instead, England have added pace to their setup with Henry Crocombe making his first appearance on the international stage, as Josh Tongue makes way.

England’s team includes: Tom Banton, Ben Duckett, Joe Root, Harry Brook (captain), Jordan Cox (wicketkeeper), Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Jamie Overton, Liam Dawson, Gus Atkinson, and Henry Crocombe.

Pakistan’s eleven features: Saim Ayub, Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam, Saad Baig (wicketkeeper), Salman Agha, Hasan Nawaz, Arafat Minhas, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Afridi (captain), Razaullah, and Haris Rauf.

This ODI is part of the Pakistan ODI Tri-Series, where each team is vying for a spot in the final. Though Pakistan’s slight changes reflect strategic preparation, England’s lineup hints at an opportunity to strengthen their pace attack and gain crucial match experience.
