Prema Rawat Claims Record with Fastest Fifty in Women’s T20s

India all-rounder Prema Rawat has set a new benchmark in women’s T20 cricket by scoring an astonishing 14-ball half-century. This remarkable feat took place while she was representing Uttarakhand against Hyderabad during the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy in Pune.

Coming in at the 18th over, Rawat played a blistering knock, smashing six fours and four sixes, lifting her team’s total to an imposing 187 for 2. She started her explosive innings with three consecutive boundaries off medium pacer Sakshi Rao before unleashing 18 runs in an over from off-spinner Vanka Pooja. Rawat continued her assault on Kunchala Niteesha, finishing the innings with a flurry producing 6, 4, 4, 6 in the last four balls to seal her record-breaking half-century.

Her partner, Raghvi Bist, contributed a steady 72 not out off 50 deliveries, supporting the total well.

Previously, the fastest fifty record in women’s T20s was jointly held by Marie Kelly, Fatima Sana, and Laura Harris, who achieved the milestone with 15-ball efforts for their respective teams.

In response, Hyderabad struggled and ended their innings at 98 for 8. Rawat, showcasing her all-round capabilities, shone with the ball by claiming 2 for 12, including the prized wickets of G Kavyasree and N Kranthi Reddy.

The 24-year-old Rawat made her international debut for India in June and has claimed seven wickets in as many T20Is to date. She was notably effective in the Asia Cup against Pakistan, ending with figures of 3 for 9. Her impressive track record includes a key role in Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s triumphs during the 2025 and 2026 Women’s Premier League seasons, where she took three wickets in six matches. The franchise showed faith in her abilities by retaining her for the upcoming 2027 season.
