Josh Tongue Withdraws from Australia’s ODI Series Due to Injury

England paceman Josh Tongue will miss the forthcoming ODI matches in Australia after sustaining a toe injury.

Tongue’s absence comes as a blow, as he wasn’t slated to participate in the T20I series but was gearing up for England’s upcoming Test tour of South Africa. He currently returns to the UK for a detailed assessment of his left big toe, which appeared to trouble him during the recent tri-series in Pakistan. The injury restricted his participation to just one of England’s four matches.

Over the past year, Tongue has established himself as a consistent presence in the Test squad. He debuted in both One Day Internationals and T20 Internationals earlier this year, joining a promising group of multi-format fast bowlers alongside the likes of Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, and Sonny Baker.
