England has released the list of 15 players who will represent the country at the 2027 Women’s Under-19 World Cup. Scheduled to take place in Nepal and Bangladesh in January, this squad is also set to tour India for a five-match T20 series in November and December as part of their preparations.
Returning from the 2025 squad that reached the semi-finals, Warwickshire spinner Phoebe Brett is included once more. Maria Andrews of The Blaze, who was previously a non-travelling reserve, is also part of the team this time around.
The squad boasts several players with notable experience from the Tier 1 county level, such as Essex’s all-rounder Bryony Gillgrass, Yorkshire legspinner Holly Garton, and 16-year-old Venus Weerappuli from Lancashire. The captain for the team will be announced in due course.
Alongside the confirmed squad members, five non-travelling reserves will join the training camps and the India tour. These efforts aim to enhance the team’s readiness for the World Cup.
England Women’s U19s head coach, Chris Guest, shared his thoughts: “This is an exciting opportunity for this group of players who will be the best prepared squad we will have sent to the U19 Women’s World Cup. The aspiration as always is to win the U19 World Cup. Taking on board learnings from previous campaigns, we have gone about things slightly differently this time, ensuring that our players are getting some game time outdoors much closer to the tournament.”
He added, “The goals for the winter are dual focused. We want to win the World Cup, and we are also developing players and helping them prepare for what their career might look like in a professional environment.”
