Chapman and Ravindra Miss India Series Due to Injuries

Mark Chapman and Rachin Ravindra have been sidelined for New Zealand’s upcoming five-match ODI series against India due to injuries. Chapman, suffering a left hamstring issue from the European T20 Premier League, requires an additional two weeks for recovery. Meanwhile, Ravindra’s shoulder, injured during a promotional shoot, isn’t fully fit for fielding.

As a result, New Zealand have adjusted their squad. Tim Seifert, initially set for the last two ODIs, will now play the entire series. Henry Nicholls, turning 35 this month, joins for the first three ODIs after impressively scoring 119 for Canterbury in the Ford Trophy. Dean Foxcroft, busy with the red-ball series between New Zealand A and India A, is set to arrive for the final two matches.

“Everyone knows what an asset Mark and Rachin are to this side, so it’s a shame they have to miss this series,” remarked New Zealand head coach Rob Walter. “I caught up with Mark last week, and although he’s disappointed, he’s working hard to get back on the field.”

Regarding Ravindra, Walter explained, “His shoulder hasn’t quite recovered to a position where he could field comfortably in white-ball cricket, so with the Test series later this month, we don’t want to take any undue risks.”

Additionally, Matt Henry, who was ruled out partway through the T20I series against India, has rejoined the squad. His readiness will be evaluated, and Matthew Fisher is now included for the entire series to bolster the bowling attack.

The series commences with the first ODI scheduled at Auckland’s Eden Park on Wednesday, 4th November.
