Bangladesh and Nepal have been announced as the hosts for the 2027 Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, taking place from 21 January to 6 February. The matches will unfold across four venues: Chattogram, Sylhet, Kirtipur, and Mulpani. Chattogram will notably host the semi-finals on 4 February and the final two days later, on 6 February.
This tournament marks its third edition, with India triumphing in the previous two, in 2023 and 2025. This year, India finds itself in Group A alongside Ireland, West Indies, and Nepal. Group B consists of the 2025 runners-up South Africa, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Samoa. Australia, Bangladesh, Nigeria, and UAE constitute Group C, while Group D will see England, Sri Lanka, USA, and Scotland competing.
The opening day, 21 January, will witness four matches. Sylhet will feature Bangladesh versus UAE and Australia against Nigeria. Simultaneously, Mulpani hosts Sri Lanka versus Scotland and England against USA. The following day, 22 January, sees New Zealand take on Samoa and South Africa face Pakistan in Chattogram, with Nepal versus Ireland and India against West Indies taking place in Kirtipur.
All 41 matches in this tournament are scheduled as day games, starting at 9:30 am for the mornings and 1:30 pm for the afternoons.
Expressing the significance of the event, the ICC CEO, Sanjog Gupta, remarked: “The ICC U19 World Cup is the stage that showcases the future of our sport and serves as the ultimate platform for young players to make the leap towards elite careers representing their countries.” He added, “These future stars representing 16 teams will garner the world’s attention and become relatable role models for many young girls playing the sport, serving inspiration for their continued cricket journeys.”
With over 40% of the populations in Bangladesh and Nepal being under 20, these nations provide an ideal backdrop for such a major youth sporting event. The ICC’s choice reflects a strategic investment in these countries, acknowledging their vibrant enthusiasm for cricket.
