Auqib Nabi has been named in India’s squad for the first three ODIs against New Zealand, solidifying his place for the entire five-match series. This decision follows Prasidh Krishna’s withdrawal due to a left hamstring injury, as he focuses on recovery.
Nabi’s international experience is limited to his sole appearance in the second ODI against the West Indies in September, where he returned figures of 0 for 84 from his ten overs. Currently, he’s honing his skills in New Zealand with India A’s red-ball squad, where he impressed by taking six wickets in the initial unofficial Test against New Zealand A.
Prasidh Krishna, who is dealing with a hamstring issue sustained during his debut match alongside Nabi, is poised to join India A for the third unofficial Test. The BCCI stated, “Krishna will need additional time to build up the workload required to be ready for matches,” and that missing the ODIs will give him a chance “to gain match practice and prepare for the Test series.”
The series commences on 4th November and concludes on 15th November, leading into the two-Test series beginning on 19th November.
India’s revised squad for the initial three ODIs features:
Shubman Gill (c), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer (vc), KL Rahul (wk), Axar Patel, Naman Dhir, Anshul Kamboj, Gurnoor Brar, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Arshdeep Singh, Ishan Kishan [WK], Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Nitish Kumar Reddy (only for the first ODI), and Auqib Nabi.
The ODI squad for the fourth and fifth matches includes:
