Bangladesh’s cricket team has called up Amite Hasan to step in for Mominul Haque in the upcoming second Test against the West Indies. This adjustment comes after the hosts were defeated by eight wickets in the first Test held in Dhaka.
Mominul faced a head injury during West Indies’ innings when he attempted to catch Joshua Bishop at short leg, ending up helmet-first on the ground. Consequently, Jaker Ali took his spot as a concussion substitute. ICC guidelines stipulate that players with concussions should have at least seven days off the field before returning to action.
Amite, 25, is highly regarded in domestic circles and has been in top form, recently scoring an unbeaten 201 for Sylhet Division against Khulna Division. This was his third double-century in first-class cricket this season, and he maintains an impressive average of 79 across five NCL matches. Amite made his Test debut against Zimbabwe earlier in the year, fulfilling the role of a wicketkeeper.
Meanwhile, experienced batsman Mushfiqur Rahim is still part of the squad, despite missing the first Test due to a finger injury. Reports suggest he is fit enough to play.
The much-anticipated second Test is set to commence in Sylhet on November 5.
