Aliss Al Islam Earns First ODI Call-Up in Bangladesh’s Tri-Series Squad

The promising mystery spinner, Aliss Al Islam, has received his first call-up to Bangladesh’s ODI team for the upcoming tri-series in the UAE, which includes fixtures against Afghanistan and Zimbabwe. Al Islam, 29, made his international debut in a T20I during the recent Asian Games in Japan.

In recognition of his impressive displays in domestic cricket, Al Islam has been added to the squad. Known for his effective use of the new ball, he has secured 35 wickets in 19 List A matches, boasting an average of 17.05 and an economical rate of 4.05.

Returning to the fray, Litton Das has been named as the ODI captain, having taken over the leadership from Mehidy Hasan Miraz back in July. Das has garnered praise for his recent performances as the T20I captain. The decision to rest Mehidy from leadership duties aims to allow him to concentrate more on his development as an all-rounder.

Fast bowler Hasan Mahmud makes his comeback to the ODI squad, while Nahid Rana remains sidelined as he recovers from a side strain. Since playing competitive cricket in July 2026, Rana has missed the Test series in Australia, the Asian Games, and the ongoing Test against Afghanistan. With a comprehensive tour of South Africa approaching, selectors are taking a cautious approach to managing Rana’s fitness.

Bangladesh is set to face Zimbabwe in their opening match of the tri-series on 17th October in Abu Dhabi.
