Indian cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues has confirmed her recovery from a hamstring injury that had sidelined her since August. The batter sustained the injury on 3rd August while playing for Southern Brave during the women’s Hundred in Cardiff. The BCCI’s medical team diagnosed it as a severe tear, which led to her missing significant tournaments, including the T20 Asia Cup in the UAE and the Asian Games in Japan. Both events saw the Indian team emerge victorious without her contribution.
Rodrigues also sat out the recent ODI and T20I series against Zimbabwe, where India excelled with 3-0 victories in both formats. Taking to Instagram, Rodrigues shared her relief over her fitness declaration: “My hamstring has been declared fit. After 3 months of rehab. Now I can’t wait to get going,” she posted.
Looking ahead, India is gearing up for a tour of South Africa in December, featuring a one-off Test, three One Day Internationals (ODIs), and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). Rodrigues is anticipated to feature prominently as the team prepares for this multi-format challenge. Additionally, she is expected to represent Mumbai in the ongoing Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, marking her return to competitive cricket.
The recovery marks a significant step forward for Rodrigues, whose presence is key to India’s aspirations in upcoming competitions. Her return will be closely watched by fans and analysts alike as she rejoins the squad to bolster the Indian side’s strength.
