India’s T20I captain, Shreyas Iyer, has climbed three places to secure the fourth position in the T20I batting rankings. This accomplishment places Indian players in three of the top four positions, with Ishan Kishan topping the chart and Abhishek Sharma in close pursuit.
Iyer’s rise in rankings follows his impressive 42-ball century in the inaugural T20I against West Indies in Lucknow. He continued his fine form in the second T20I in Ranchi with a brisk 18-ball 40. Indian batting continues its dominance with Tilak Varma also advancing to No. 9, marking five Indian batters in the top ten.
West Indian batter Shai Hope, who also dazzled with a century in the Ranchi T20I leading his team to victory, ascends two places to 11th in the rankings. Fellow West Indian, Sherfane Rutherford, reaches a career-high 24th spot.
In Test cricket, South Africa’s Aiden Markram, bolstered by a resilient half-century in the second innings against Australia in Durban, leaps four places to rejoin the top ten of the Test batting rankings for the first time since October 2019.
Australia’s Matt Renshaw has made an extraordinary leap of 147 places, moving from 196th to a shared 49th position. His commendable performance against South Africa, scoring 190 and 82, earned Australia a decisive 214-run triumph.
Fast bowler Josh Hazlewood also features in the rankings shuffle. Thanks to his standout figures of 6 for 49 in Durban’s second innings, he advances two places to seventh in the Test bowling rankings. Meanwhile, Mitchell Starc clings to the lead, though his margin over New Zealand’s Matt Henry narrows to just four points despite claiming three wickets in the Test.
